After our first visit, things suddenly became real.
We reached an initial agreement with the owner. Not the final purchase yet — in France, buying land takes time. Papers, delays, administrative steps that move at their own pace.
But we weren’t very patient.
The owner, thankfully, trusted us. He allowed us to spend time on the land while everything was still being processed.
That changed everything.
We didn’t want to wait.
We wanted to be there.
To walk the land again.
To breathe it in.
To understand what we were about to commit to.
Living Between Two States
There’s a strange feeling that comes with this phase.
You invest time, energy, emotion —
into something that is not yet yours.
We explored every corner. Observed the trees, the wind, the silence. Tried to imagine what this place could become.
And yet, at any moment, it could still fall through.
Every distant sound made us wonder:
Is someone coming? Are we supposed to be here?
We felt like intruders.
Already Attached
And still… something had shifted.
We were no longer just visiting.
We started to recognise places:
- a spot sheltered from the wind
- a natural path between the trees
- the edge of the plateau where the view opens up
Without noticing, we were already forming habits.
Already projecting ourselves into the future.
Trusting the Process
Weeks passed.
No one came to stop us.
No bad news.
Just time moving slowly.
Step by step, we started to trust the process.
And with that trust came a question:
If this is going to be ours… why wait to start?
👉 In the next post, we explain how we started building — without buying anything, using only what the land provided:
